WAYTAG – simplifying locations
November 09, 2011Location information can be complicated – they are either in the form of complicated GPS co-ordinates, or addresses that can be difficult to find. What if we could attached a simple name to our location? Enter WAYTAG..
Imagine website addresses were numbers (IP addresses) instead of domain names. Remembering these would be seriously complicated, and difficult to distribute to your clients. WAYTAG aims to attach names or words to GPS co-ordinates and addresses in the same way that domain names represent the locations of web sites on the world wide web.
For example for your personal WAYTAG’s you can have #JoeBloggsHome which links to your address at home, as well as #JoeBloggsWork which links to your address at the office. Your WAYTAG’s are yours for life and you only need to update the address attached to the WAYTAG. You are also able to have a mobile WAYTAG that updates via a mobile app so folks are able to locate you instantly. (Obviously you can easily turn this sharing off if you want to go undercover..) All these WAYTAG’s are attached to a login via their website which has a Google Maps integrated interface for you to easily add location information.
Business WAYTAG’s are also available and these offer some additional information about the location. (telephone number, email, website etc) Business WAYTAG’s as with the personal account are free. A bulk import facility allows importing of multiple locations for companies with many branches.
I really hope this idea catches on. Perhaps locating a company address in the future will be as simple as typing a WAYTAG into your GPS unit…
