SEO Process

The first step to effective SEO involves writing search engine relevant content with a selection of effective keywords.

Page optimisation forms part of the website development process and involves setting up mechanisms that help the search engines rank your site according to relevant keywords.

In order to aid search engine visibility we pay close attention to the following page elements:

Page Title

The page title shown at the top of the browser page needs to communicate the content and have relevant keywords too.

URL rewriting

The URL of a page should also be readable with relevant keywords: ie. www.petshop.co.za/products/cat-boxes.

META Tags

META description, and META keywords are invisible to the user, but can be used in your search engine listing on the results page.

HTML Sitemap

A Sitemap describes how the website pages are structured and is useful both as a navigation tool for users and as an effective method for Search Engines to index all pages in the website.

Blogs

Blogs are extremely effective for publishing fresh and relevant content that can be indexed by the Search Engines. We can integrate a blog into your site and ensure that your posts will be effective in promoting your site.

XML Sitemaps

This is a machine-readable list of all pages in a website and is submitted directly to the Search Engines including Google, Yahoo and Bing Sitemaps in the form of an XML file.

Google Analytics

Google Analytics is a powerful reporting tool which presents useful statistics on website traffic by tracking a snippet of code on your site.

ALT tags for images

Although the Search Engines can’t read images, they can read the description carried in the ALT tag of an image. It is important that all images have relevant ALT tags.

Robots.txt file

Some content (eg. PDFs, customer information) can also be restricted from the Search Engines.

Note: Refresh does not participate in activities that would harm your ranking – automated submissions, hiding text or links, or duplicating content.

Submission Process

Refresh uses the following process to submit to the search engines:

Keyword research

We select keywords relating to your industry based on: Number of search queries for that keyword; competition for those keywords; and the relevance to your website/company.

Keyword optimisation

We optimise all pages in your site based on the section-based keyword selections and then run the pages through SEO software to provide a report of further keyword recommendations.

Link Building

We have an established network of websites we use to build links essential to increase the priority of your website in Google and other top search engines. We ensure that the links are also above your PageRank.

Directory submission

We start the submission process by submitting to relevant directories in your region/industry. By way of example, for a medical company in South Africa, we would submit to South African directories as well as medical directories. This builds the links to your website, which in turn builds the page rank of your site.

Search Engine submission

We do manual search engine submission to all major Search Engines.

Sitemap submission

We use software that dynamically generates an XML sitemap of your website, which automatically informs the Search Engines of changes to your website.

Monthly monitoring

We offer monthly monitoring and re-submission services to maintain your ranking.
